FAQ about our treats
What makes Tim&Leon special?
Tim&leon is Europe's first pet food startup that utilizes the potential of alternative protein sources at the core of all its products. This allows us to offer high-quality and healthy food that also tastes great and is kind to our planet!
Where are Tim&Leon products manufactured?
Our products are manufactured in Germany by experienced partners who share our values of quality, transparency and sustainability.
Short production routes allow us to keep our supply chains efficient – thus protecting the environment and conserving resources.
What is naturally fermented protein?
Naturally fermented protein is obtained through the fermentation of natural microorganisms. This process produces a highly digestible, protein-rich biomass, entirely without animal ingredients and with significantly lower resource consumption.
This process is nothing new: Nature has been using fermentation for millions of years – just like in the production of yogurt, sourdough or kombucha.
We use this principle specifically to obtain a high-quality, easily digestible and particularly pure protein.
The result is our fermented protein, which:
- over 90% digestible,
- free from common allergens and irritants,
- and rich in essential amino acids and natural B vitamins.
Because it is not derived from animal or plant raw materials, this protein is particularly gentle on sensitive dogs and is ideally suited for a conscious, sustainable diet.
Fermentation also brings clear benefits for our planet:
Compared to meat production, fermented protein saves up to 95% water and land and causes significantly fewer CO₂ emissions – with better protein quality.
This creates a protein that is healthy for your dog and better for the environment – innovative, natural and responsible.
Is fermented protein safe and tested?
Yes, our protein is produced in Germany under strictly controlled conditions and is regularly tested by independent laboratories.
It meets all EU safety and feed standards.
How big are the Besserlis?

Besserli is not suitable for puppies under four months old due to its crunchy texture.
